1884-O Morgan Dollar
ANACS MS 63 The obverse strike on this original Morgan Silver Dollar is above average, while the reverse strike is average. The obverse exhibits some weakness in the curl over the ear in Miss Liberty's portrait and the reverse exhibits some weakness in the breast feathers in the eagle's portrait, typically encountered with New Orleans minted Morgan Dollars. Some breast feather details are still fairly discernible on the reverse however. Nice cartwheel luster. The obverse exhibits very light gold, rose, russet, and cobalt toning on most of the rim and extending into some of the denticles and peripheral field from approximately K-12 to K-2. The reverse is essentially white with some rim and denticle toning in light hues of gold and rose. The obverse exhibits a puffy cheek, and both the obverse and the reverse exhibit very few of the bag marks commensurate with this grade. This coin was certified by ANACS prior to the publication of the Hot 50 listings. Therefore the O/O and Hot 50 attributions are not designated on its holder. This VAM-10 variety is listed on page 263 of the fourth edition of the "Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan & Peace Dollars" by Leroy C. Van Allen & A. George Mallis:
"Reverse: II O mint mark repunched with original showing as a wavy vertical line within left side of opening. So-called O/CC variety."
